The fifth annual Brush & Palette Club Ice Cream Social will be held at Hermann’s Upper City Park on Sun., Aug. 15 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the newly restored Rotunda.

A new feature of this year’s event will be a dance in the Rotunda, a regular event in the building during the 1930s to 1950s. Put on your dancing shoes for a toe-tappin’ time to music from the Big Band Era through the 1960s and into the 1970s.

Sev Meyer will open the afternoon of music by once again singing his original song, “The Grand Old Lady in the Park,” the theme song for the Rotunda restoration project.

The Korman Family will spin some great tunes for dancing on the Rotunda’s wooden floor. Admission to the dance is free.

Under the old bandstand, delicious ice cream with multiple toppings, and cookies and lemonade will be dished up by members of The Brush & Palette Club. A free will donation for the refreshments will be gladly accepted.

The Club will also have a silent auction table set up between the bandstand and the Rotunda with a variety of unique items displayed for bidding. Proceeds from the event will go toward community projects, including long-term upkeep of the Rotunda and restoration work in Hermann’s City Cemetery.

The Rotunda is air conditioned.
